Uniper’s top priority is to work safely, look after its people’s health, and protect them from harm.
The safety, health and well-being of our employees is our top priority
Our employees are the heart of our company. They ensure a reliable and affordable energy supply and at the same time are committed to driving forward the transition to an increasingly decarbonized energy system. To support their valuable work, we offer attractive and fair working conditions in a healthy and safe working environment with flexible working hours and continuous training opportunities. We promote diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion. Because we are convinced that an inclusive and barrier-free environment in which everyone feels valued, respected and included is the key to innovation and long-term success.
Our targets
We have set ourselves the goal of achieving a Group-wide share of 25% women at the first (L1) and second (L2) management levels below the Management Board by December 31, 2025.
In the long term, we are aiming for a 30% share of women across the first three management levels (L1-L3) in the Uniper Group by the end of 2030.
Preventing serious accidents
Our goal is to prevent serious accidents involving our employees and partner companies and not to allow any fatal or life-changing injuries.

Many of our employees work in technical areas of our power plants. These jobs require a high level of occupational health and safety. We attach great importance to ensuring that they are always safe and healthy in their demanding work and are constantly working to improve work processes and framework conditions, to prevent serious accidents. Our commitment to health and occupational safety also applies to the employees of our business partners as well as to residents and visitors to our facilities.
Healthy and satisfied employees are crucial to the success of our company. That is why we provide them with a wide range of offers and preventative measures to promote their health as part of our occupational health management. We have appointed health managers and support corresponding initiatives at global, national and local level. Medical check-ups and vaccinations are a matter of course for us, as are clear overtime regulations and healthy food in the canteen.
For us, health not only means physical fitness and integrity, but also mental and social well-being. That is why, in addition to physical exercise programs, we also offer mental health programs, both in the form of classroom courses and webinars. Our health management also offers specially trained internal contact persons for mental health and addiction prevention.
Our approach
- Ensuring a safe, healthy and secure working environment for all employees and contractors and the same standards for joint ventures and partnerships.
- Comprehensive health and wellbeing programs and strict health and safety policies and campaigns for employees and non-employee
Maintaining high occupational health and safety standards is a core value at Uniper, first and foremost because the well-being of our employees is our top priority. But safety also has practical significance: it helps us to avoid work interruptions and accident-related absences. The occupational health and safety management systems of all Uniper operating units are certified in accordance with ISO 45001.
