Gas storage facilities are physical assets and so are subject to physical restrictions in temperature, pressure and the equipment used at each site. The following general rules apply:
The more working gas is withdrawn, the lower the storage pressure, which leads to restrictions in withdrawal rates. Vice versa, the more working gas is injected, the higher the storage pressure, which leads to restrictions in injection rates.
We offer our storage products mainly directly at the connection point. In this case, the delivery and/or return point is the storage connection point directly at the storage facility. Transport capacities to/from the virtual trading point are not included but have to be booked separately by the customer via the known capacity trading platforms, with the network operator or, in case of access to the CEGH (Storage 7Fields), via us.
Our gas storage products are offered in storage bundles, combining working gas volume with injection and withdrawal capacities in a fixed ratio. Each bundle type differs mainly by its churn rate – how often the working gas can be injected and withdrawn within a storage year. To maximize flexibility, interruptible capacities can be integrated. While not always fully available due to operational conditions, they help customers unlock the full potential of our storage facilities.
Our portfolio includes three bundle types:
High injection and withdrawal rates for multiple cycles per year – perfect for short-term flexibility.
Balanced capacity and performance for medium-term requirements.
Large working gas capacity for seasonal storage needs.
We currently market our storage capacities mainly via auctions, which are carried out via our storage portal. All the relevant, technical information and the published contract documents for the upcoming auctions can be found on our storage portal.
