Apprentices

Within your apprenticeship, you will become a specialist in the assembly and disassembly, installation and repair of various machines and production facilities. Your workplaces are varied: In our maintenance department, you will learn maintenance and repair work. In production engineering, you will be involved in the construction of new workpieces. In mechanical and plant engineering, you will prepare machines for their use.

Do you enjoy mechanical and electrical engineering? Then simply develop into an all-rounder at Uniper for mechanical, electrical and electronic assemblies and components as well as complex mechatronic systems. Your tasks will include the assembly, maintenance and repair of equipment, as well as the maintenance and repair of mechatronic systems. You will work with circuit diagrams and design drawings, install and program the associated software and assist in the planning, preparation, documentation and execution of orders. You will acquire your knowledge through versatile assignments in the various organizational units of our company.

You will work in an international environment with employees from over 70 countries. The optional qualifications in your training are "Assistance and Secretariat", "Human Resources Management" or "Commercial Management and Control". You will support our office and business processes and, depending on the training location, you will be involved in payroll accounting and personal administration, preparing financial statements in the area of accounting or being responsible for the settlement of orders. You prepare evaluations and statistics as well as protocols and presentations. You organize meetings, trips and events and communicate with internal and external customers - also in German.

During your apprenticeship, you will get to know different areas and locations of Uniper. You will work on our projects from the very beginning and support us in the implementation of company-specific information and communication solutions. You will accompany our business and performance processes and be responsible for system security and the analysis of customer requirements or plan and implement customer-specific software solutions and take over the testing and documentation of applications. You will be responsible for planning, setting up and operating IT systems and will be involved in providing technical advice, support and training to customers - also in English. The focus areas within the IT specialist training range from system integration, application development, digital networking to data and process analysis.

In combination of part-time studies and the apprenticeship, you will get to know different areas and locations of our international company. You will support our commercial business processes and assist our customers. You will accompany the planning, organization and control of our operational processes and gain insights into the areas of purchasing, human resources, sales and marketing, controlling and accounting.

In addition to your practical assignments at our Headquarter in Düsseldorf, you will attend vocational school and lectures at the University for Economics and Management in Düsseldorf. After two years, you will take your final examination of your apprenticeship at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. After 1,5 more years, you will complete your studies with a bachelor's degree.

As part of your 4-year part-time dual study program at Uniper, you will complete your training as an electronics technician for industrial engineering in 4 years. You will attend lectures at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, Gelsenkirchen campus. The practical training takes place at the Gelsenkirchen training center and the theoretical training at the vocational college for technology and design.

After completing your training, you will write your Bachelor's thesis at Uniper's facilities. During your apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial engineering, you will be responsible for the installation and support of various systems, machines and individual components such as switches and sensors. You will also gain an insight into complex electrical systems in measurement, control and regulation technology as well as communication, signaling and drive technology. Your tasks will include assembly and maintenance work as well as troubleshooting in the event of system failures, which includes testing individual system components, connections and cables. You will also learn how to wire installation circuits and be introduced to work planning, preparation and documentation. In addition, you will actively support us in our development towards a green energy future.

As part of your practice-integrated dual study program at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences (HRW), you will combine the practical application knowledge of an electrical and control engineer acquired at Uniper with the course content of the lectures at the university. From day one, you will be accompanied by extensive mentoring by our team of engineers.

During the practical phases at Uniper, you will get to know the various areas and locations of our international company. You will be involved in important projects from the very beginning and support us in the implementation of company-specific tasks relating to energy technology/energy transition and will also get to know the corresponding business processes.

Studying at the HRW campus in Bottrop is divided into compulsory and elective module areas. In addition to the compulsory subjects such as mathematics, electrical engineering, measurement and control technology, electrical power engineering and networks, process and control technology, safety and reliability in energy networks, grid integration of renewable energy systems, communication and communications technology as well as communication for energy systems, there are extensive and exciting topics from energy informatics to choose from in the elective module area.

The course of study ends with a three-month bachelor's thesis, which you can also complete with us in the departments.
