The project

Uniper has developed plans for a solar farm in Alvecote, Tamworth, Staffordshire - one of the first renewable projects it has developed in the UK.

About the project

MWp

Planned generation capacity of the Tamworth Solar Farm

Construction started

Site expected to feed power into the national grid

The scheme demonstrates our commitment to the UK renewable energy market and meeting Uniper’s ambitious target to accelerate the energy transition by making our business carbon neutral by 2040*

The scheme gained planning consent in 2023, In addition, the Tamworth project was awarded a Contract for Difference (CfD) in the AR6 CFD auction in August 2024.

The Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the scheme is Sunotec UK Ltd.

Investments in these solar projects are part of Uniper’s commitment to invest around €8 billion into growth and transformation projects until the early 2030s. Uniper aims to be carbon neutral by 2040*

In the UK, Uniper is exploring opportunities to potentially develop renewable projects, with a focus on the development of solar and onshore wind projects, which for some projects could also include the installation of battery storage facilities.
