Situated in the heart of the industrial Humber, Uniper’s Energy Transformation Hub Killingholme has the right expertise in the right location to deliver low-carbon energy solutions that could not only help business and industry to reduce CO2 emissions in this industrial cluster, but would be capable of responding quickly to increases in demand for electricity, contributing towards the UK's energy supply security and a net zero future. This is why this site is also one of Uniper’s Energy Transformation Hubs.
Uniper has been advancing plans for the future development of its Killingholme site, working with key local and national partners and stakeholders on initiatives that could help decarbonise the Humber region, including the potential development of a low carbon hydrogen production facility, the Humber H2ub® (Green) project, where Uniper is progressing plans to produce low carbon hydrogen.
Alongside potential hydrogen production, the Energy Transformation Hub Killingholme is also one of the locations where Uniper is able to deliver essential grid stabilising services to the National Energy System Operator for Great Britain (NESO), without the need to combust fuel to generate power, as well as the Killingholme Low Carbon Power project, a proposal to develop a new carbon capture power plant.
