The project, being developed by Uniper, was granted initial planning consent by the local planning authority (East Ayrshire Council) in 2022, with a modified application in 2024. This follows the submission of plans by Energiekontor UK Ltd. 

The balance of plant contractor for the scheme is AE Yates Ltd, and construction management services are provided by Energiekontor UK Construction Ltd. The wind turbines will be supplied by Nordex.
