About Uniper in Sweden
Reliable energy for industry and society
As part of the international Uniper Group, we are one of Sweden’s major electricity producers, supplying power to industries and communities across the country. Our hydropower and nuclear facilities, complemented by reserve and balancing power, help stabilize Sweden’s electricity supply — the foundation for both social welfare and industrial competitiveness.
Powering Sweden with energy
We are now investing in the energy transition
In 2045, Sweden must be carbon dioxide neutral. Then we need to find new and fossil-free waysfor transportation, manufacture products and continue to develop society. It will not be possible without innovations in a number of areas. We can't wait for the perfect solution. Instead, as many as possible need to pull in the same direction - and Uniper is determined to drive and accelerate the energy transition.
In Sweden, Uniper invests in fossil-free ship and transportation fuel, a fossil-free process industry, battery storage and hydrogen – to name a few areas.
A sustainable future is not only necessary, but also possible.
NorthStarH2
In Östersund, we work to be able to produce fossil-free Methanol for both the chemical industry and shipping, NorthStarH2.
BothniaLinkH2
In Luleå, we are preparing for a regional hydrogen hub, the BotnialänkenH2. We tie the fossil-free steel sack together by ensuring that transport can take place at sea with…
Uniper delivers reliable and stable electricity – every hour of the day
Electricity is actually a highly effective energy carrier and can instantly be transported tens of thousands of kilometers and is therefore totally unique compared with fossil fuels. Compared with other countries, Sweden has a high per capita electricity consumption. This is due in part to our cold climate, but our large electricity-intensive industries also increase consumption. Society and industry need stable access to electricity to function every hour of the day.
